Absence Management

People Matters recently presented the CIPD seminar on Absence Management in GMIT which was a very participative event with lots of interesting discussion & questions. The main theme focused on the best practice steps to both encourage attendance & to manage absence. As can be expected, having proactive policies to encourage attendance can significantly reduce the amount of time spent on the latter. Results from a recent CIPD survey highlight that work-related stress can contribute to 44% of absenteeism which shows a huge opportunity for organisations to place greater emphasis on identifying and minimising stress factors in the workplace.
